What Are Implant Dentures?

Implant dentures are a form of tooth replacement that combines dentures and dental implants to stabilize and secure a denture. An implant denture usually replaces an entire arch of teeth. Your denture will feel more comfortable than a removable complete denture. An implant denture also feels more natural, resolving struggles with traditional dentures that can shift, lift, or fall out when you speak or eat. You can get affordable implant dentures from Dr. Mo Saleh of Vancouver, Washington.

How Are Implant Dentures Made?

An implant denture has two parts – the implants and the denture.

· Dental implants – Two or more small titanium posts inserted in predetermined places in your jawbone will replace tooth roots and stabilize your denture.
· Denture – An overdenture abutment or a metal bar allows the denture to snap onto the dental implants.

What Are the Advantages of an Implant Denture?

Compared to a removable complete denture, an implant denture has the following advantages:

· Greater stability – Dental implants anchor your denture, preventing it from rocking, sliding, or lifting.
· Improved function – Stable dentures help you speak more clearly and increase chewing efficiency.
· Enhanced appearance – A denture that fits securely looks more natural.
· Healthier jawbone – Dental implants stimulate your jawbone, preventing bone shrinkage and premature facial sagging, which occur with lost teeth that are not replaced.

Are Implant Dentures Safe?

Implant dentures are safe. Dental implant posts are biocompatibletitanium. Stabilizing your dentures is a reliable, long-lasting alternative to traditional removable dentures.

What Is the Implant Denture Process?

The implant dentures process begins with a consultation to ensure you are a candidate for this treatment. The process generally includes the following steps:

1.  Initial consultation: Dr. Saleh will perform an exam and take a CT scan to evaluate your oral health. The data will help him determine whether you are a good candidate for implant dentures. He will also discuss your options and the results you can expect.

2. Treatment plan: Dr. Saleh will customize a comprehensive treatment plan outlining the necessary steps, approximate timeline, and costs.

3. Putty impressions: We will take initial putty impressions of your mouth as a model for fabricating your temporary dentures.

4. IV sedation: Your procedure may include IV sedation for deep relaxation during your procedure.

5. Teeth extractions and implant placement: Dr. Saleh will extract any remaining teeth and gently insert the dental implants into the jawbone. Typically, he will place four implants in your upper and lower jawbone to support the implant-supported denture. Afterward, he will attach a temporary denture to the dental implants in your upper or lower arch.

6. Healing and integration: The surgical site takes about two weeks to heal after implant placement. Your jawbone and dental implants will integrate over the next four to five months. Your temporary denture will allow you to speak and eat comfortably.

7.  Exposure of dental implants and denture abutment placement: Dr. Saleh will expose each implant and attach an abutment to it after your dental implants and jawbone fuse. An abutment is a mall connector that extends above the gumline, allowing the denture to snap, clip, or screw on securely.

8. Final restoration: After your gums heal around the abutments. Dr. Saleh will take impressions of your mouth for a custom-fitting final denture. You will have high-quality, natural-looking dental teeth. Getting your final denture often takes several appointments to ensure an accurate bite and an aesthetic smile.

Getting implant-supported dentures takes multiple visits over several months. However, you will have a long-lasting, stable denture that looks natural. Your implant dentures will function and feel better than a traditional removable denture, improving your quality of life.
